GOTTFRIED SALZMANN HALL

FROM SALZBURG TO FRANCE

Gottfried Salzmann was born in Saalfelden in 1943; he attended the Vienna Academy of Art and, while still a student, went to Paris, which has never ceased to cast its spell over him. He no doubt found that the typical French mixture of sensualism and rationality matched his own artistic instinct.

EXHIBITIONS IN THE SALZBURG MUSEUM

Hardly any other Salzburg artist since has made such a resounding name for himself internationally as Salzmann. For his sixtieth birthday, the Salzburg Museum held a representative exhibition in the former main building on Museumsplatz, including the artist’s central work complexes.

GIFT TO THE MUSEUM

Although he has been living and working in France for several decades, Gottfried Salzmann has never lost contact with his former home of Salzburg. In recent years, he has dedicated a large number of pictures to the Salzburg Museum, which are on display in alternating sequence in the hall named after him on the third floor of the Neue Residenz. The show can be viewed by appointment during opening hours.
